Don't be fooled! It's true that beating the game is done very easily. However, Mecha Ritz's adapative difficulty makes the game harder the longer you survive. Surviving and increasing the game's difficulty are intrinsic to getting a high score. In other words, like many STG games, anyone can see the last boss, but getting a monumental high score still takes plenty of technique.. Mecha Ritz's originality feels like a breath of fresh air in the Shoot 'Em Up genre. Fast paced action with an FM Synth soundtrack. I wish more games were this fun. A tour de force, no less.. The game can pinpoint and shave the difficulty as I'm playing, making the experience feel challenging but manageable at the same time. As someone who's not very skilled at shoot-em-ups, this makes all the difference, it never gets too overwhelming, but it's not pandering either. I haven't played too much, but I'm feeling like later you want to get better at it, so you keep the difficulty high by dying less. It's a pretty neat system. Also, music is glorious, cranked up bleeps and bloops. Almost nonsensical cutscenes are pretty cute.Even if shmups aren't your thing, try this one. It's quite accessible in pretty interesting ways.. From now on, Mecha Ritz is THE shoot ’em up. Forget about Crimzon Clovers, DoDonPachis and Mushihimesamas. There is only Mecha Ritz. It’s so creative that it will surprise you again and again. It’s so dynamic that it will put you into constant shooting-n-dodging trance. And it’s music rocks. Buy this ♥♥♥♥ing game.. This is a really really good shmup. It's beatable if you aren't that good, since the RANK will stay low and you'll be able to handle things, but also very challenging if you're good at the genre since you can consistently raise your rank and face down very difficult bosses and enemies (with a high score to match). Lots of ships to unlock, good music, bad anime artwork in the cutscenes, and ludicrous translation -- it's basically perfect. Plus it's cheap! The one problem I have with it -- and it is indeed a problem -- is that it doesn't have autofire. Please do not make shmups without autofire, I would like my keyboard to remain healthy and strong!!e: for some reason steam's time measure doesn't work very well on this game. i have played it more than 5 minutes, honest. Very fun game, nice graphics and sound. Such a good surprise <3. It's the quirky coffee-themed Battle Garegga I never knew I needed.. Man this game is rad.Mecha Ritz is a shoot em up game with a strong focus on its adaptive rank system which increases and decreases the difficulty depending on your actions in the game. As a result of this system, clearing the game is pretty easy. I'm a mediocre shmup player and was able to clear it on my first attempt with several lives left over. However clearing the game is not really the point. The real meat of this game revolves around the scoring system. The scoring system in the game mostly revolves around trying to push the rank as high as possible as well as speedkilling and point-blanking enemies. It's simple, but due to the games excellent use of the ranking system it always creates an exciting scoring experience for all skill levels. Player's will find themselves at a rank high above where they're comfortable and frantically dodging in order to try and keep it for going down. It's an adrenaline rush that needs to be experienced to be understood. To top it all off the game has excellent visual presentation, fantastic music, TATE support, and a very customizable practice mode that allows you to switch ship types on the fly. My only real complaint is the lack of leaderboards given the game's focus on scoring. Some achievements would have also been nice but certainly aren't a deal breaker. Regardless, I highly recommend this game to anyone interested in the genre. There's enough here to engage and challenge both newcomers and veterans to the genre making the game very open to all. If you are unsure, there is also a freeware version available online with less features and no translation but still a similar and exciting experience.. Beautiful game.
